GREATEST RUNNING SHOE EVER (Adidas Ultraboost)
When adidas released the Ultraboost back in 2013, the German sportswear brand made a pretty bold claim. “Greatest Running Shoe Ever” the marketing campaign behind the Ultraboost proclaimed. Initially, the shoe wasn’t selling as hot as the brand expected, but one afternoon, Kanye West, adidas’ newest brand ambassador, decided to wear a pair outside. From that moment on, the Ultraboost soared and became a staple in fashion wardrobes and sneaker rotations all over the world. More than just the “Kanye Effect”, the Ultraboost held its own. Primeknit on the upper and Boost on the cushioning sandwiched feet and hugged them like never before. Soon enough, old and young were lining up for a pair and as they say the rest is history.
REACT-ING TO THE TIMES (Nike Epic React)
The quest for the best cushioning setup on Earth continued when Nike introduced React cushioning to the world. Initially rolled out in their hoops signatures, React didn’t come hot out of the gate like Nike expected. However after a few more tweaks and the purest iteration of it yet, React finally found the success Nike was accustomed to in the Epic React. Paired with stretchy yet supportive Flyknit, the full-length React midsole shone bright as runners, joggers and everyday weaarers witnessed just how responsive and durable this foam was. Now on its second installment, the Epic React franchise has the makings of a long and cherished run thanks. Nike did a fantastic job on the first model that it only took a few tweaks for the second silhouette to be back on the upper tier of running shoes today.
THE XEQUEL (New Balance X-Racer)
Many of today's New Balance fans probably know the Boston-based sneaker company for their new silhouttes and that's good news. The X-series, which has put NB front and center thanks to the edgy design and clean colorway execution, has been a major win for the brand. The X-Racer is the second installment in that series and it does not disappoint. Featuring a trimmed yet chunky build, the X-Racer sheds of a few centimeters putting it right in the sweet spot. The translucent material that lines the upper gives the X-Racer a futuristic vibe that's perfect in today's sneaker landscape. Although one of the ushers of a new era for New Balance, the X-Racer still wins veteran fans of the brand over thanks to its distinctively '90s vibe. The ABZORB dual-density midsole foam also makes this an easy-pick whether you're going on an adventure or partying the night away. Whatever it might is, this is a shoe you won't want to miss.
